Augmented reality and virtual production for live TV

Since 2024 I’ve worked on Mediaset España’s live shows, building in Unreal Engine the augmented reality, extended sets and control tools that go on air. If your channel or production company wants to bring Unreal into its shows, I know the way and its pitfalls.

Unreal Engine augmented reality in a live TV broadcast

What I do

Augmented reality on set

Objects, recreations and characters inside the real studio, at scale and in the same light.

Virtual and extended sets

Set designs that continue the studio beyond its walls or replace it completely.

Virtual camera

Shots that leave the physical set to explore the 3D world and lock back onto the real camera’s tracking.

Live data pieces

3D scenes fed by real-time data, like the results of an election night.

Broadcast integration

Unreal connected to the channel’s system: tracking, compositing and live control.

Live control

Blueprint tools to fire transitions, cameras and signal changes right on cue.

Frequently asked questions

Which broadcast systems have you worked with?

Vizrt every day: Viz Engine as the compositor and Viz Arc for live control, with Mo-Sys tracking. I also know how Brainstorm, Pixotope and Zero Density approach their Unreal integration.

Can you help a channel that’s starting with Unreal?

Yes. Before producing anything, you need to understand how the system is set up: how many engines there are, how they’re wired and who will operate them. That’s where I can save you a lot of testing.

Can this be done remotely?

Preparing scenes, tools and pieces, yes. For on-set tests or a premiere I can be there for specific moments.
